Observation through walks around the city, recognizing different types of weeds and keeping an eye out for the edible ones. Walking and talking about possible combinations, flavours, smells, and about the richness of what Gilles Clement calls “third landscape”: the result of the abandonment of previously exploited industrial or urban sites, when left to all the biological beings (plants, fungi, incests, animals, etc.) that make up the territory, in the absence of any human decision.
Usually full of resilient and strong plants, weeds and wildflowers, in the area of Barcelona where we walked we found dandelion, purslane and clover, among other species.
This is an ongoing research project. The starting point is simply walking and observation. So far we’ve set up a weed garden (which has failed, for now) in our studio on the fourth floor of a warehouse.
